Columbia, Missouri – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team will travel for the first time in almost a month to face Auburn in the Tigers’ first SEC road contest. The match will take place at 3pm at Neville Arena and will be broadcast on the SEC network and KTGR.

In the first SEC showdown of the 2022-23 campaign, Missouri overcame an early deficit and stifled a late run to beat Kentucky 74-71 at home. With this win, the Tigers made his 1-0 mark in his SEC play and achieved his 12-2 record overall.

After the Wildcats led 19-10 in the first quarter, the Tigers had a commanding lead, scoring 20-5. Missouri held Kentucky scoreless at 5:38 in the second quarter, and the Tigers entered halftime with a nine-point lead.

Kentucky fought back in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 66 with less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but the senior forward hayley frank (Strafford, Missouri) Filled in an important jumper to beat the shot clock. The Tigers maintained their lead for the remainder of the game as the team knocked down a 5-for-6 free throw in the final minute.

The Tigers also rank among the most efficient offenses in the nation, with the team knocking down 46.6% of their shots, which ranks 23rd in the nation.

The defense played a key role in Thursday’s victory as they tallied 12 steals in the contest. The totals are his second-most for the Tigers in one game this season, and his fifth time Missouri has forced his 10-plus steals.

Sunday will be the 16th time Missouri and Auburn face off. In the all-time series, Missouri has her 9-6 lead and has won the past two contests. On January 6, 2022, both teams went to extra time at his Mizzou Arena, where the home Tigers won his 72–63 victory.

Auburn enters the contest with an overall record of 10-3 in the 0-1 standings in SEC play. In the opening game of the conference, the Tigers went 79-47 by decision at Ole Miss to go on a seven-game winning streak.
