The All-Star Game is meant to be a fun gathering of the most talented basketball players on the planet. The entire All-Star Weekend is meant to promote Top of the Top.

The first All-Star Game in 1951 was won by the Eastern Conference team. Ed McCauley of the Boston Celtics was named his MVP of the game. The game’s final scoreline was 111-94, which seems to be the normal modern game score.

But it didn’t last long. After the NBA introduced his April 1954 shot clock, the pace of the game grew dramatically over the years. The 1961 All-Star Game saw the festivities score 153 to 131.

Scores remained in the high 100s throughout the 1970s and early 80s, with the exception of the 1980s. By the mid-1980s, however, scores were consistently hovering around 150 points.

Why do you get such high scores in the All-Star Game? Isn’t there two sides to the sport of basketball, the offensive side and the defensive side? You’d think you’d be proud to play the other half of .

Why don’t NBA players play defense in the All-Star Game?

    #1 Health

All-Star Weekend should be a time for players to reap the rewards of the season. Not a time when you don’t want to put too much stress on your body.

Sure, there’s a certain amount of pride in winning the All-Star Game. However, it is a game that does not count towards your statistical record. It also doesn’t affect who wins the championship.

Therefore, many stars play this exhibition game at half pace. After all, they want to stay fit for the games that matter. The playoff games and late regular season games are far more important and deserve top priority.

    #2 It’s a showcase event

One of the things that makes All-Star weekend so special for players is that they get to show off their best moves while competing against the best in front of friends and family.

Thus, there is a tacit agreement between selected participants to stay out of each other’s way. Players love being able to build their highlight reels without having to worry about having to overcome an All-NBA level defense.

#3 Protecting a Superstar is Hard

Barring injuries and a few controversial options, the All-Star Game pits the 24 best players against each other. is very difficult to stop.

Spending energy for such purposes is not only ineffective and frustrating, it is also unproductive. To do.
