    Two men charged in Cody Fisher’s Boxing Day murder

    Two men have been charged with killing footballer Cody Fisher on Boxing Day.

    Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22, have been charged with killing a 23-year-old boy at Crane nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham just before midnight on Boxing Day, West Midlands police said on Saturday. Stated.

    Both are from Birmingham and have been charged with the incident and are being held in custody before appearing in Birmingham Magistrate’s Court on January 2.

    Fisher was stabbed on the dance floor at a nightclub on Friday and received a 28-day license suspension, police said.

    This followed accusations from West Midlands Police that there had been a “serious administrative failure” at the venue on the night of Mr Fisher’s death.

    A police review application said Fisher died during a “dancefloor brawl” and officers present “reported the scene of the chaos and evidence of drug use on the premises.” .

    Officers recovered the knife from the crime scene and an autopsy confirmed that Mr. Fisher had died from the stab wound.

    His girlfriend Jess Chatwin remembered him in an emotional message posted on Twitter the day after his death.

    she wrote: I am very sorry that something like this happened to you. my baby please go home I love Cody Fisher forever. “

    A police statement attributed to Fisher’s family said: I lost my best friend. My family and I ask for privacy and respect during this heartbreaking time.

    Detective Chief Inspector Ian Ingram of the West Midlands Police Homicide Division said after the two were charged:

    “We have had great support from the public who have really helped us in our investigations so far.

    “But we’re really looking forward to hearing from anyone who has information they haven’t told us yet. All information will help us investigate.”

    A 22-year-old man, also arrested on murder charges, has been released on bail pending an investigation.

    Four other people arrested on suspicion of aiding the perpetrator were also released on bail.
