MLB.com soon released its first Power Rankings, and the calendar has officially changed to 2023.
The top 10 looks like this.
Unfortunately, the Guardians didn’t beat the top teams in the league, but they weren’t far behind.
Some fans might be thinking that if he was the defending defending champion and had clearly gotten better this offseason and didn’t lose a key piece, he would have to be higher than 12. I can certainly understand this argument.
Cleveland is bringing back arguably the best pitching staff in baseball with one-for-two punches. The silver lining to these rankings, however, is that the Guardians are the highest-ranked team in American League Central. This means MLB.com believes he’s the team to beat in 2023.

With 87 days left until opening day, these rankings give us a pretty good idea of how the Guardians will hold up against the rest of MLB and its division.
