    A third man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a footballer who was fatally stabbed in a Birmingham nightclub on Boxing Day. Police said they recovered the knife as part of an investigation.

    Cody Fisher, 23, died while “enjoying a night out with friends” at Crane nightclub on Adderley Street in Digbeth, West Midlands police said.

    Officers were called to the crane just before 11:45 p.m. and Mr. Fisher was declared dead half an hour later.

    Detectives arrested a 22-year-old suspect in London around 3am on Thursday. He will now be questioned about the football player’s death.

    A third person has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and four others have been arrested on suspicion of aiding.

    Detective Chief Inspector Ian Ingram, who is leading the investigation, reiterated on Thursday a plea for anyone with information to contact police.

    “Seven people are currently in custody and continue to build a picture of the events that led to the tragic loss of this young man’s life.

    “People continue to provide information, but we look forward to hearing from those who have not yet reached out to us.

    “If you have footage that we haven’t seen yet, or if you know what happened leading up to the tragic events of Boxing Day, do the right thing and tell us now. recommend to.

    “We are determined to get answers and justice for Cody’s friends and family and will not stop until that happens.

    “We will keep them up to date as developments occur and continue to support them through this terrible time.”

    A relative from Fisher’s home in Studley, Warwickshire told MailOnline: We are devastated and trying to figure it out.

    “Cody was a great boy and his family had a wonderful Christmas. All of this is truly heartbreaking.

    Originally from Redditch, the 23-year-old was a semi-professional footballer who played for Stratford Town, Stourbridge FC and Bromsgrove Sporting.

    “I know there were hundreds of people in nightclubs at the time. It is necessary to listen to the person who has done so.

    “We believe the victim approached several people and was then stabbed, so we are working hard to identify all those involved.”
