    • Awa and Smile scored in a row, closing in on the 10-point difference. Carter added a free throw to further reduce the lead to 40-31.
    • With less than 30 seconds remaining, Smikle added another layup to take the Scarlet Knights to a 7-0 run to end the half with a score of 40-33. RU held UMD scoreless with his 2:56 last in the second quarter.
    • Smikle kept the heat going for the third start and scored another layup to cut the deficit to 40-35 on 5. The Terrapins responded quickly with a free throw before the tie-up forced Rutgers into a timeout.
    • Out of timeouts, Maryland returned the lead to 15 and scored 10 unanswered points to force another Rutgers timeout. His two free throws from Cornwell ended Terrapin’s spurt.
    • With five minutes remaining in the third quarter, Maryland led 52-37. Rutgers kept fighting, but the Terrapins extended their lead to 18 with just over three minutes remaining.
    • A Streeter field goal and a Maryland layup capped off the scoring in the third quarter as the opposition entered the final 10 minutes with a 67-44 advantage.
    • The Rutgers continued the 6-0 stretch to cut Maryland’s lead to 20, but the Terrapins worked on two free throws to maintain a comfortable edge.
    • Streeter made a big block and a 3-point shot from Smile to take the lead by 20 points. Rutgers added four more points, forcing a timeout for Maryland at 2:32.
