Over the years, Texas A&M has had its fair share of star running backs. Some have legitimately had his NFL future, while others have made the most of their time in college until time runs out. Devon As for his Acane star running back, he and most of us knew that the 2022 season was likely to be his last.

Acane officially entered the draft on December 6, just weeks after a dominating performance in Texas A&M’s 38-24 win over the then-fifth-ranked LSU Tigers. Scoring and making a spectacular mark on what is considered one of the maroon and white-wearing players’ most memorable careers. Due to his versatility, his draft stock, currently considered a second or third round pick, should continue to climb in the coming months.

On Friday, Acane spoke with TexAgs Executive Editor Billy Liucci about his player’s future and his time with the Aggies over the past three seasons. First, Acane detailed his training plans since announcing his entry into the draft.

“I started training. I went to Dallas from December 11th to 21st. I’m going to have a little break, but I’ll be back on January 1st. Normally I was doing track at this time of year, so it’s different. now it’s just football my body is still in football shape it’s the first time for me it’s the first time since 9th grade I don’t have a running track after a football season it’s new but other than that it’s basic It’s really just training.”

“I don’t think I’ve put on that much weight when I’m actually training. I can see I’ve gained some since the end of the year. If you stop running the track and just focus on football, that’s what happens. The place I was training told me my diet wasn’t that good. They were trying to keep my balance by gaining weight without slowing down. I don’t like vegetables, so I drink a lot of protein shakes.I can’t afford to eat unhealthy food all the time.I eat a lot of chicken wings.I couldn’t give them up.

When asked about his favorite 40-yard dash time, he said:

“I’m trying to run 40 for 4.2 at the NFL combine. I’ll try a lot, but if I get 4.2 on the first try, I think I’m in pretty good shape.”

Finally, Acane eloquently expressed his admiration for Aggies and the university as a whole.

“I love Texas A&M. I loved playing in front of the fans here and it was so exciting to be here. I know I miss being a college player because it’s not like college, I spoke with my family, my coach Jimbo Fischer, my coach Tommy Robinson, my family, me and me. My mother decided it was time to take the next step.I am coming back to finish my degree because it is what I have always wanted to do.It was a tough decision.I had to take care of my family. If I hadn’t, I could have come back.I have a son and I have to take care of him.”
