    Times-Union will feature the top boys’ high school basketball teams from Jacksonville and Northeast Florida teams through December 31 for the 2022-23 FHSAA season.

    1. Providence

    12-1, Class 3A

    Before: 1.

    Last week: 58-50 win over Shady Spring, 46-33 win over Charlotte, 53-36 loss against Winter Haven, 73-33 win against Ocala Vanguard.

    This week: Friday vs. Ponte Vedra.

    Summary: The stallion was ultimately defeated by the Sun Kingdom champion Winter Haven for the first time, but has not been beaten by a local school since December 2021.

    2. Pontevedra

    9-3, Class 6A

    Before: 2.

    Last week: 55-54 win over Kings Ridge Christians, 71-60 loss to Savannah Johnson and 62-53 loss to St Andrews.

    This week: Friday in Providence.

    Summary: The flu-weakened Sharks have dropped two games in Georgia despite forward Israel Nouf’s career games.
