st.Paul, Minnesota – Sophomore Forward, Macalester College Badu Ba (Dakar, Senegal/Williston Northampton) has been named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for men’s basketball for the week ending 29 January, the conference announced today. This is his fifth time Ba has won the award of the week for defensive play.
Ba helped Scotland win two MIAC games last week, averaging 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. In his 73-66 win over Hamline on Wednesday, he tallied his eight rebounds and his three blocks, scoring eight points. On Saturday, Ba recorded nine boards, four blocks and three steals in McAlester’s 69-63 win over St. Scholastica.
So far this season, Ba has averaged 8.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, ranking fifth in rebounding and first in blocks in MIAC. He was named MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his first three weeks of the season and his December 12th.
McAlester (12-6 overall, MIAC 9-5) played MIAC at Concordia on Wednesday and played a non-conference match tonight at Min Morris before playing Gustavus at home on Saturday. do.
