No. 9 Kansas and Kentucky are gearing up for an earthquake non-conference showdown as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, with a tangled blue-blood program trending in the opposite direction. The Jayhawks are on his third straight loss and are in jeopardy of his four-game losing streak for the first time under coach Bill Self in 20 years, but the Wildcats are reviving the season with his four-game winning streak.
The meeting at Rupp Arena marked the fifth time the Jayhawks and Wildcats have met face-to-face in the 10-year SEC/Big 12 Challenge, with the teams splitting their first four meetings. Last season, the UK beat Kansas 80-62, but it was the Jayhawks who won the US Championship when Kentucky lost to No. 15-seeded St. Peters in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas should be motivated to avenge that loss, and the Jayhawks have plenty of firepower, with Big 12 top scorer Jaren Wilson and very talented freshman wing Grady Dick. I’m here. Kentucky will go up against last season’s National Player of the Year Oscar his Tzibwe and his freshman guard Cayson Wallace who excelled.
