The Iowa Hawkeyes will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Check out our college basketball odds series for Iowa Nebraska predictions and picks.
Iowa basketball had a tumultuous month in December. The Hawkeyes lost to Duke, but he beat rival Iowa State by 19 points. They lost to Wisconsin in overtime, which was no shame — Wisconsin are a good team — but then they suffered the worst loss of a college basketball season from a betting standpoint. There are no favorites to lose in college basketball this season. That’s a fact.
Iowa was the 31.5 point favorite against Eastern Illinois on December 21st. Somehow the Hawkeyes lost. The biggest shock was that the match wasn’t that close. Iowa lost on his home floor, 92-83, where he lost by nine points. If you follow college basketball every year, the mid-December game (whether college students are taking final exams or getting ready for Christmas with their families, or both) is crazy and unexpected. I know that often results in That said, losing at home by a 31.5-point favourite is still amazing and extremely rare. Iowa somehow has to shrug off that game and bounce back here against Nebraska.

Why Iowa Can Cover Spreads
This is a highly flawed Nebraska team that has lost six games and is fighting to cross the .500 mark at 7-6. Nebraska had a truly impressive and surprising 10-point victory over Creighton, but the Huskers were recently blown away by an average Kansas State team. Oklahoma lost by 13 points. They lost him by 20 margins to St. Johns his team, who were unlikely to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Clayton’s results at this point look more like outliers than representative results. Nebraska is not so good…also.
Iowa, on the other hand, will be furious after an embarrassing loss to eastern Illinois. This is a talented team that hit the snooze bar against Eastern Illinois. Hawkeye doesn’t seem to be spotted taking a nap this time around.
Why Nebraska Can Cover Spreads
Iowa’s loss to Eastern Illinois was certainly spectacular. Iowa clearly has talent and potential. Otherwise, the Hawkeyes wouldn’t have blown Iowa out, pushed Wisconsin into overtime, or done anything remarkable this season. Potential teams are not trustworthy and should not be considered trustworthy teams.
Also worth noting is the fact that in addition to beating Clayton on the road, Nebraska lost by just three points, 65-62, to the Boilermakers after taking Purdue in the final seconds. If that version of the Nebraska basketball team showed up here, Iowa would be in serious trouble. Purdue is the #1 team in the country, New Mexico and he’s one of his three undefeated teams remaining in the college hoops alongside UConn. If Purdue struggles in Nebraska, Iowa will lose in Nebraska.
