Top athletes from Morocco, Africa and around the world will take to the ring at the International Boxing Association World Boxing Tour Golden Belt Series tournament from February 2-10, 2023 in Marrakech.
The highly anticipated event puts Moroccan boxing in the global spotlight like never before, with five-time Cuban world champion Julio La Cruz and two-time world champion of Chinese Taipei. There is a strong team of players who will face off against. World Champion Lin Yu-Ting.
In the men’s event, 2015 African Championship and 2022 Mediterranean Games gold medalist Mohamed Hamout will represent the lightweight host nation. In the women’s competition, Moroccan heavyweight Hadi Jamaldi will look to build on the emotional journey that saw her win silver at the IBA World Championships and gold at the AFBC African Championships last year.
Among the international arena with hundreds of athletes from dozens of countries, African boxing has seen Algeria’s Younes Nemouchi, Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Khabezi Peter Pita, Zambia’s Patrick Chiniemba and Egypt’s Wassley Represented alongside top male players such as Lezuk Mostafa. Algeria’s Imane Keriff and Mozambique duo Alcinda Helena Panguana and Rady Adcinda Gramane are among the big names in the women’s gold medal hunt.
The first-ever Golden Belt Series event in Africa will take place at the 2,500-seat Mhamid venue on Avenue Anakil in Marrakech, with a total of 25 weight classes. Women’s tournament.

Marrakech will host the third event of the IBA’s landmark new competition series, the World Boxing Tour, after last year’s successful Silver and Golden Belt Series tournaments in Slovenia and Mexico respectively.
The World Boxing Tour consists of a series of events divided into three categories – Golden Belt, Silver Belt and Bronze Belt – contributing to a new IBA ranking system that helps define the most successful boxers at the end of the year. The top four athletes in each weight class will compete for best of the best in the annual Diamond Belt Series event.
