Episcopal School of Acadiana advanced to the Division IV women’s soccer semifinals last season as the 11th seed. The Falcons are ready for another run when the bracket releases on Tuesday.

The Falcons (11-3-4) have dominated this season, scoring almost five goals while allowing fewer than one per game. They defeated 7 opponents (his 4 of his last 5) by the rule of mercy.

Anna Breaux, Grace Pelgrin and Briley Harpin account for 70 of the team’s 83 goals. Breaux, who led the team in goalscoring last season, has 36 goals and 8 assists, followed by Peregrin (22 goals and 10 assists) and Herpin (13 goals and 5 assists).

“Anna has great speed,” Falcons coach Dione Leger said. “She is relentless when the ball is around her. Grace is a natural goalscorer with great technical skills. am.”

Junior forward Bro has reached 40 goals in the regular season, a benchmark she set as the season progressed. She and Peregrine have scored more than 40 goals together last season.

The Falcons have two sets of twin sisters, Sophia and Claire Lacecchi in grades 2 and Audrey and Ella Vige in grades 7, who have five assists and six goals. Sophomore Bailey Guillot is the younger sister of last season’s standout Taylor Guillot, who graduated.

Goalkeeper starter Sofia Lacecchi shut out eight opponents.

“She did a great job,” Leger said. “She didn’t hit a lot of shots, but when she got hit she played well.”

Léger said senior defender Eileen Kaiser helped keep opponents at bay with incredible speed that allowed him to corner the ball in pursuit.

Reese Brasseau, Ella Romero, Claire Lasecki and Hayley Britton strengthen the Falcons’ defensive wall.

“I wouldn’t say we had the most demanding schedule as we thought we might be rebuilding, but I am really impressed with this team,” Léger said.

“They work so hard. They are very bright kids who take everything I give them. They don’t have as much experience as they did last year, but what they lack, they make up for with grit on the ball.” ”

When it comes to Division IV, power ratings don’t always mean much.

Last season, No. 4 Ouachita Christian, No. 7 Academy of Sacred Heart-NO, No. 9 Louise McGee and No. 11 ESA were the final four teams, with Sacred Heart winning the title.

With one regular-season game remaining at home to Menard on Monday, the ESA is ninth in the power rating.
