College basketball media reacts to Duke beating Kentucky in Champions Classic

Great sorrow! Kentucky just needs to take a layup, which Duke was letting them, and it is Duke to the line and winning bet.
Kentucky only scoring 6 points in the last 6 minutes didnt help either. https://t.co/6geaVunznO

I think these 2 groups may see each other again in March/April. Kentucky is excellent!

It was tightly contested throughout both halves, it was Duke that ultimately pulled away with the 79-71 win. Kentucky held their own, however, which was in doubt after an unsteady exhibition showing versus Miles College.
Duke is just better. Still a high ceiling for Kentucky.
Kentucky aint gon na shoot 37% from the field much this year.

Duke is just much better. Not sure that will alter at any point this season since Paolo Banchero is that excellent. Still a high ceiling for Kentucky though.

The general consensus– though not unanimous, seems to be that both Duke and Kentucky revealed well on Tuesday night at the Champions Classic and have intense seasons ahead.

Came away seeming like Duke is underrated (cant think Im stating it) and Kentucky can become deserving of its ranking however didnt execute on offense like I expected a group with many veterans to.

They rode huge performances from their star freshman, Trevor Keels and Paolo Banchero, who combined for 47 points, to the big win. Still, its the Blue Devils that scored the win over John Caliparis group. After the conference, the college basketball media was simply plain impressed with what they saw on the flooring at Madison Square Garden.
Duke basketball beats Kentucky: College basketball media responses

Its hard to argue with that. The Wildcats are clearly still gelling however to hang with a group as talented as heaven Devils for 40 minutes and never truly be out of it speaks extremely of Caliparis squad. And when it comes to the talented equivalents, the Coach K Farewell Tour appears as if its going to run quite smoothly with this group on the flooring.
