Why is Tyrann Mathieu nicknamed Honey Badger?
The nickname originates from the viral video of a honey badger doing crazy things in nature with some comical commentary. While playing in college for the LSU Tigers, then-defensive organizer John Chavis played the video after a game against West Virginia and offered Mathieu the label due to his ability of forcing turnovers.
Mathieu was not at first a fan of it, however he ultimately grew on it. Since, the label stuck.
