Twitter raved about Kelly Claes and Sarah Sponcil being robbed in the ladiess beach volley ball quarterfinals after a questionable challenge to an obstacle.
The dynamic duo of Sarah Sponcil and Kelly Claes were knocked out in the round of 16 of the 2021 Olympics beach volleyball competition.
Some referee shenanigans on that beach volley ball match. Claes/Sponcil got robbed. #Olympics.

Kelly Claes and Sarah Sponcil simply got ROBBED and you will never persuade me otherwise.

Sponcil is 24 years old and Claes is 25, so they likely will have more Olympic opportunities down the line. That wont make this result any less ravaging for the 2.
So, in beach volleyball, the US challenged, won it, and after that Canada challenged the obstacle and won? I dont comprehend it at all. Claes and Sponcil do not, either.

So for everyone who just hears about this outcome, let me tell you that Claes & & Sponcil lost unjustly. They challenged a call, call was given up their favor, but then CAN challenged the obstacle and won a point! Ridiculous!!! https://t.co/HQZ4PEJg5e.

Confusion mainly originated from how the obstacles were managed. It just didnt make any sense.
Sponcil and Claes ranked No. 3 in the world. Sponcil and Claes went on to lose the 3rd set and the match.
In beach volleyball, the US challenged, won it, and then Canada challenged the difficulty and won? Claes and Sponcil dont, either.
They challenged a call, call was offered in their favor, however then CAN challenged the obstacle and won a point!
The rulebook does not seem to permit what took place.
The Americans lost to Canadian set Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson in an upset. Sponcil and Claes ranked No. 3 on the planet. Bansley and Wilkerson ranked No. 16.
Was it a reasonable outcome? Twitter doesnt think so.
In the 3rd set, with Canada leading 12-11, Sponcils serve was called out. Sponcil and Claes challenged the ruling and the officials reversed it on replay evaluation.
Thats when things got strange. Canada challenged the difficulty and the referees reversed the turnaround. Sponcil and Claes went on to lose the third set and the match.
Nobody understands the evaluation in Sponcil and Claes beach volleyball loss.
Twitter was irritated, throwing around the word “ROBBED” with abandon.
Truly feel for Claes/Sponcil. how do you challenge a play, have the call reversed in your favor, just to have the challenger difficulty THE SAME PLAY and have it reversed once again the other way?? Insane.

For Claes and Sponcil, there does not seem to be any option. Theyre out of the Olympics easily.
