Travis d’Arnaud could miss rest of season for Braves

The Braves called William Contreras, the sibling of Willson, as backup catcher Alex Jackson was also positioned on the hurt list. Puns forgiven (please), the Braves really cant capture a break.
Atlanta stuck in crowded NL East, now without their starting catcher.
The loss of dArnaud will be visible for the Braves. He had actually published a. 220/.253/.341 slash line up until now this season, and was leading a disappointing, but injury-plagued Braves pitching staff.
The Braves are 4-6 in their last 10 games, and being in 4th location in their department, just 2 games back of the Washington Nationals. Every group in the NL East is within 2.5 games of the division lead, and the Braves would prefer not to fall last in line of that lot.
In the meantime, Atlanta will use Contreras as their beginning backstop. The 23-year-old does not have a lots of experience, but he has plenty of pledge. Should he carry out well, Brian Snitker will have a serious choice on his hands regarding whether Contreras or Alex Jackson receive the bulk of games at backstop.

Per Dave OBrien of the Athletic, “Travis dArnaud has a torn thumb ligament, will need surgery. #Braves hope/think theyll have him back at some time late in season, but no certainty.”.

For now, Atlanta will utilize Contreras as their starting backstop. The 23-year-old does not have a ton of experience, however he has plenty of promise. Must he perform well, Brian Snitker will have a serious decision on his hands as to whether Contreras or Alex Jackson receive the majority of video games at backstop.

The Atlanta Braves got the worst possible injury update on catcher Travis dArnaud on Sunday afternoon.
The Braves initial upgrade, which needed a 60-day injured list trip for dArnaud with a thumb sprain, exposed the possibility for a return later this season. Atlanta still has yet to stated their catcher out for the entire year, but considering hes undergoing surgery a healing by the end of the season appears not likely.
